![]() ![]() I would actually prefer to watch Tanked, I think its underrated due to people's high expectations. They have fun with what they do, and I like that. Tanked, for what it's worth, is really not bad. While it may have less tacky and bigger builds, it almost put me to sleep. TL DR/Conclusion: Fish Tank Kings does little to answer the criticism of Tanked. Plus, the Tanked guys have their redeeming qualities the FTK guys just seem like assholes. Some people get really annoyed by the Brooklyn accents on Tanked, but I'd take that over drawl and stoicalness. The guys in Tanked smile and laugh and really have fun and they do pranks and whatnot which keeps my attention. I could barely stand to finish the hour-long show. The show’s stars and aquarium gurus, Brett Raymer and Wayde King, spoke little about the cost of the larger-than-life tanks they built. They seem to have only two emotions: completely placid or poker-facedly angry. From the 75,000-gallon church aquarium, a piano-inspired fish tank, to tanks so massive they could hold several sharks, every episode of the Animal Planet TV show Tanked is full of mind-blowing surprises. The guys in FTK have less personality than the fish they use. So yeah, less petty and silly arguments, but more subtle tension. "You know how fucking hard I worked on this? Get off my back!" "Oh my God why is he taking so long to get here!"įTK: "Woah, some species of this coral is not indigenous." Tanked: "I don't want to go in this tank there are sharks in here!" I'll compare the two with a few paraphrased quotes: It really didn't take long into the episode for the first bit of drama happened. Tanked might have really stupid bickering, but FTK has a lot of swearing, frustration, and arguments. I'd have to say that neither are really informative about keeping fish and or building tanks. You get to see more of the building process, but it doesn't really say much. FTK just gets their fish shipped there, which is a lot less interesting. I liked when the guys from Tanked went the facility to buy their fish because you got to see a lot. While FTK throws more abstract or scientific terms out there, I feel do little more or less than Tanked into telling about the setup than can be seen with the eyes. Similarly, if you thought that FTK would be more informative, then you're again wrong. They both use plastic and rubber coral and reef pieces, which IMO is unimpressive, but probably economical. And come on, how can you compare a tank that goes behind home plate in an MLB field (from FTK) to a barrel shaped tank or a tank built into a jukebox or pinball machine? I find that Tanked builds tacky, eye-candy pieces, while FTK seems to build more interesting tanks. While I feel that Tanked most caters tacky, themed tanks for rich people to barely stare at, FTK is more centered around professional facilities. In fact, it might just be more focused on building than Tanked is. If you expected to FTK to be less focused on tank builds, then you are very wrong. I know the subject of Tanked at least is a heated topic, so I thought I might add my $0.02. Well, I've been thinking about this a lot lately, and just got around to watching the new Fish Tank Kings show (which I'll abbreviate as FTK from now on).
